Community Service

Community Service and Civic Pride is instilled in 4-H youth through both club and County-level service projects.  Typically there is one County Community Service activity per month, they are listed below and are announced at individual club meetings.

Community Pride List 2017-2018

October: Support CCC 4-H by donating a gift basket for their Tri-tip dinner fundraiser/silent auction to be held on November 4th.

November: Review the local Blue Star Moms website and determine what your club can do to help! You could organize a drive for care packages to soldiers oversees.  November 11th is Veterans Day!

December: Options

1. Review Wreaths Across America and learn about their services then determine how your club can support.  You could organize your club to support Holiday Wreath project.

2. Participate in a Holiday Giving Program by donating to Toys For Tots or Holiday Wishes programs to seniors in your area. 

January: Review and learn how your club can support the Monument Crisis Center in Concord. You could host a birthday bag drive and make someone’s day! 

February: Donate baby items to a local woman’s shelter for new moms such as Shepherds Gate in Brentwood.

March: Review the amazing work of our local County food bank and organize a food and/or volunteer donation! Mr. Larry Sly is a wonderful speaker to have at your local club meeting! 

April: Review Shelter Inc of Contra Costa website and create a welcome home package or a kitchen welcome package

May: Read the White Pony Express story and learn how White Pony Express and their mobile general store, food rescue and Inn programs are supporting the greater Contra Costa County area. You could organize a club volunteering event or club donation to help eliminate hunger and poverty in Contra Costa County.

June: Visit the Contra Costa County Library and learn how to support your local Libraries in their summer reading programs and maybe even participate yourself! Build YOUR brain!

Over 70 4-H youth, volunteers and parents spent the morning cleaning and painting at the Fairgrounds!  THEN they helped set up for the Centennial event!  Great event and a great effort by all!
